BREMEN — Two Lincoln County men have been charged in connection with a string of 21 burglaries that took place at homes throughout the county as well as two campgrounds.

Lt. Michael Murphy of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department identified the suspects today as Andrew Longe of Walpole and Nikolas Poland of Bremen. Both men are 19 years old.

Longe and Poland allegedly stole LCD and plasma television sets, five outboard motors, numerous power tools, hand tools, Bose stereo systems, and other electronic devices valued at $35,000 from residences in Bremen, Round Pond, Pemaquid, Bristol, Damariscotta, and Nobleboro.

They are also alleged to have stolen copper pipes from 15 homes as well as the bath houses at the Duck Puddle Campground in Nobleboro and Pemaquid Lake Campground in Damariscotta. The value of the copper piping is estimated to be more than $25,000.

Murphy said the men were arrested Tuesday at a home on Biscay Road in Bremen. They were booked on burglary and theft charges at the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

Police said the crime spree began in early March. The suspects used the cover of darkness to target residences and buildings that appeared to have been boarded up for the winter.
