SIDNEY — Two people face drug trafficking charges after deputies from the Kennebec Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant Tuesday at the Middle Road home that had been the target of a six-month investigation.

Michael Paquette, 38, was arrested on a charge of trafficking in illegal drugs and was later freed from the Kennebec County jail on $2,500 bail. Jennifer Paquette, 37, was summonsed on the trafficking charge.

A statement from Kennebec Sheriff Randall Liberty said deputies found about 2 1/2 pounds of processed marijuana, Ritalin and Prozac pills, powder residue, scales, packaging materials, marijuana pipes and $1,000 cash at the Paquette home.

“We developed numerous sources of information and have established that the Paquettes have had a large-scale marijuana trafficking operation for quite some time,” Liberty said. “The evidence that we have collected validates that information. Evidence collected confirms the significance of the trafficking. This is a significant, multiple pound operation. This investigation continues and more arrests may result.”

Michael Paquette has a 1997 conviction for assault, for which he served 60 days in jail. Jennifer Paquette has no criminal record.
