MOUNT VERNON — Residents will go to the polls Tuesday for a special election to fill a vacancy on the Board of Selectmen.

Malcolm Hardy is the sole registered candidate for the two years remaining in the term left by Roger Pelton, who moved to Vienna after the death of his father-in-law. Voting is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Vernon Elementary School.
