FREEPORT — Starting at 9 p.m. today and continuing until 6 a.m. Wednesday, the Interstate 295 Northbound Exit 24 (Route 1) off- and on-ramps in Freeport will be closed for paving, according to the Maine Department of Transportation.
Motorists are advised to use Exit 22 (Mallett Drive) or Exit 28 (Route 1) to exit or enter I-295 northbound.
Construction crews expected to pave Monday, however repair work on the roughened, milled surface of the highway necessitated the postponement, MDOT said in a news release.
MDOT advised drivers on I-295 to pay close attention to signage connected with the repair work, especially signs indicating reduced speed zones.
