Dr. David Carpenter, the founding dean of the University of Albany School of Public Health, will be among the speakers at today’s event. Carpenter will address the risks of cancer and brain tumors.

Researchers, a former patient, a legislator and others will discuss the potential risks of cell phone use. Democratic state Rep. Andrea Boland of Sanford, who sponsored bills to require warnings on cell phones and at cell phone stores, will provide updates on efforts to raise awareness of the potential hazards of cell phone use.

The event is being run by the USM School of Nursing and Health Professions and the Environmental Health Trust.
