BELGRADE LAKES — Katherine and J.P. Devine celebrated the 50th anniversary of their wedding, Oct. 2nd, with their good friends, Joe and Renee Jabar and family on Great Pond in Belgrade Lakes, and at their favorite restaurant in Boston.

Katherine Joly and Jeremiah Devine were married on that date, in his hometown of St. Louis, Mo., following the completion of a Broadway road show in which both performed. They renewed their vows in Waterville at the Blessed Sacrament Church in August 2007. Their daughters, Dawn Marie Devine and Jillana Joly Devine served as maids of honor.

Katherine, a former New York theater actor is the daughter of the late Judge Cyril M. Joly and Lorette La Pointe Joly. She has been a Spanish and language arts teacher at Waterville Jr. High for 25 years, and is a member of the parish of St.Joseph Maronite Church in Waterville. J.P. remains unaffiliated.

J.P. and Katherine met in 1958 in New York City as drama students and working and touring in theater. Both were members of Actor’s Equity and J.P. is a retired 50-year member of Screen Actors Guild. J.P., a former actor and screenwriter, is a freelance newspaper columnist and film critic for MaineToday Media.

Their daughter Dawn Marie Devine of Hollywood, Calif., is an account executive for ProQuest Publishing. Daughter Jillana Joly Devine is an attorney and actor’s agent for Progressive Artists Agency in West Hollywood, Calif.
