For nine years, Karen Heck ran KVCAP, a multi-million dollar agency that employed more than 200 people and provided 35 programs funded from a variety of sources, much like the city of Waterville.

I met Karen when we first served on the newly combined Boys and Girls Club and YMCA boards. Since that time, we have served on a number of local volunteer projects, working for the betterment of the city and the people who live here. I know that when Karen wants to get something done, she engages in innovative thinking and works hard to include others.

She has won both local and statewide awards for her work and was inducted into the Maine Women’s Hall of Fame for her leadership.

We are lucky that Karen has decided to run for mayor as an independent candidate, because she is the one best qualified to lead this city.
