I have known and worked with David Smith for over 10 years. He was chairman of the Augusta Planning Board when I joined. He was then and continues to be passionate about the future of Augusta. I watched and learned much from him about city government. His interpersonal skills with the other board members and the public coming before the board were outstanding.

David is a skilled negotiator and a good listener. He cares deeply about preserving our neighborhoods and making Augusta a better place to live and to work. He past experience on the planning board, the water district and the airport advisory committee has given him a strong background to now move on to the leading decision making body of our city government.
