The state is participating in an exercise designed to explore agencies’ response if there were a nuclear meltdown at the Seabrook Nuclear Plant.

A press release announcing the exercise begins with Gov. Paul LePage declaring a state of emergency to help deal with heavy traffic caused by the mass evacuation of the New Hampshire seacoast.

The release says that the Maine Emergency Management Agency would be monitoring for potential public health risks.

This exercise is in conjunction with Seabrook and and New Hampshire Emergency Management to test the states’ and the plant’s communications and response plans.
