WATERVILLE — Police and rescue personnel were responding to multiple vehicles off the road early Friday evening in central Maine.
As many as eight vehicles reportedly slid off a short stretch of a road in Benton, according to police radio traffic.
A public safety dispatcher in Augusta said personnel were too busy to provide additional information at 5:45 p.m.
After a day of snow, sleet and rain, roadways became ice-covered Friday night when temperatures dropped below freezing.
