LIMERICK — A Newfield teenager whose license was suspended died early today in a car crash that ocurred while she was driving on Route 5, according to Maine State Police.
Libby Lofgren, 18, was driving her 2004 Pontiac at high speed when it left the road, became airborne and hit a tree, said Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Alcohol was likely a factor in the crash that was reported just after 1 a.m., McCausland said. Lofgren was alone in the car and died at the scene.
Her driver’s license had been suspended since Jan. 28 for several motor vehicle violations, McCausland said.
