TROY — A group of voters at Town Meeting on Saturday may try to increase spending in this year’s budget.
Town Clerk Kathy Mattingly said a group of voters who live on dirt roads may try to amend an article to fund road maintenance. The current recommendation by the budget committee calls for $45,000, but some residents want to see more work done, she said.
“The scuttlebutt has it that there’s going to be quite a number of people at the meeting and will raise cain to repair the dirt roads,” she said.
Otherwise, Mattingly predicted the meeting will be “run of the mill.”
In all, voters will decide on 43 articles for a proposed $518,591 in spending, which is about $8,000 less than the previous year.
In 2011, voters approved $527,194.
On Friday, voters will also elect a selectman and a member to the Trustees to the Forest Area in unopposed contests.
