I am writing in response to a recent editorial, “View From Elsewhere — “Ultrasound requirement needs to go before Supreme Court” (April 3) and the April 10 political cartoon.

It’s time to stop using misleading rhetoric that makes it sound as though Democrats have respect for women and Republican’s don’t. It’s time to stop calling abortion “reproductive health,” when in reality it’s the destruction of a human life.

Giving women an ultrasound to see their unborn child is not “useless,” “punitive,” or a case of “bullying.” They are not being “emotionally pressured;” they are being given the truth.

If Democrats were truly concerned about women they would insist on the ultrasound because it’s compassionate for both mother and baby. An unborn child is not part of a woman’s body like her appendix, but another person living inside of her with his or her own heartbeat.

In our day of scientific advancement, this should be a no-brainer. We can hear the child’s heartbeat. We can see their fingers and toes. Perhaps that’s what the Democrats are afraid of — women knowing the truth.

So, you see, it’s not the Republicans who are waging a war on women, it’s the Democrats. And their enemy is not just women but helpless babies, who are also the patients of abortion doctors, doctors who should act in their patients’ best interest instead of murdering them.

This letter was written by a woman who cares deeply about America and everyone in it, including women and babies. And yes, a woman who’s proud to be a conservative Republican.
