Column was reminderon lake protection

Thank you for the Maine Compass feature on the Maine Volunteer Monitoring Program. The important work of this group is noteworthy in its own right. But the article also served as a reminder to think about lakes as a natural resource that needs ongoing protection. Just because there are thousands of beautiful lakes in Maine doesn't mean we should take their beauty for granted. I salute the Volunteer Monitoring Program for its work in protecting Maine lakes.
