For the first time that I can remember, no notice was put in the local paper that Winthrop taxes were due April 1.

It has always been helpful, especially to us elderly folks who can’t always remember what day it is. I hope the idea wasn’t to collect more penalties.

I really like our new town manager; he is a great person and a good example of the hometown boy makes good. However, he should learn right away that what is good in the military is not always good in real life, I know; I’ve been there and done that.

If we can afford to buy the police chief a new car and send the town manager away to study, we can surely afford an ad in the paper.
