The Colby women’s lacrosse team found out Sunday night that their season is still a work in progress.

The Mules received one of the 18 at-large bids for the NCAA Division III tournament, and Colby will play Endicott on Wednesday. The selection show for the 31-team field was broadcast on the NCAA website at 9:30 p.m.

Endicott (12-5), the Commonwealth Coast Conference champion, lost to Bates, Bowdoin and Tufts, all by at least six goals, and Colby defeated all three teams. The time and location for the game were not immediately announced.

“It’s a great matchup,” Colby coach Karen Henning said. “Endicott traditionally has some really strong players. This week off hopefully proves to be a positive thing. We worried about ourselves for a week and made our corrections.”

Colby (13-2) was seeded second in the New England Small College Athletic Conference tournament, but lost 9-4 to Hamilton in a quarterfinal April 28. Hamilton then lost to Trinity in overtime in the conference semifinals. Trinity, the eventual NESCAC champion, defeated Colby 11-9 on April 6 for Colby’s only other loss this spring.

Colby was ranked ninth in the nation in the latest Division III national poll. Endicott was unranked.
