I’m glad I was seated when I saw the front page of the Kennebec Journal this morning (May 1) and sighted the photo of Maranacook physics teacher, Steve DeAngelis, congratulating senior, Jared Diou-Cass on receiving a $100,000 scholarship. My knees buckle whenever I run into folk with “inner means of support.” The picture exhibits two.

Congratulations to Diou-Cass for giving this retired judge eyes of misty joy, erasing the times I shed tears of dismay when seeing young people in juvenile court, bungling ability.

And a lot can be realized from the strong grip DeAngelis has of Diou-Cass’ shoulders in the photo. Obviously, DeAngelis had achieved a good grip on Diou-Cass’ mind as well.

The writer’s report of Diou-Cass’ many meaningful school and community accomplishments put a lump in my throat. He reflects well on Maranacook Community High School and the town. It’s not necessary to read between the lines when considering the abundant quality of the school’s program; Diou-Cass’ quotes rests the case.
