HILLSBORO, N.H. — Mitt Romney is criticizing the restoration of a 19th-century bridge in New Hampshire, calling it another “Bridge to Nowhere.”

The Republican presidential candidate today called the project a fresh symbol of waste that is rampant in President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus plan. He says the project only adds to the deficit and was a waste of taxpayer dollars.

The town of Hillsboro, N.H., received $150,000 in federal stimulus money to repair the Sawyer Bridge as part of a new park. The project was meant to put people to work installing new benches, lights and visitor parking. Those additions have not happened.

The bridge itself, however, has been repaired with a new surface for pedestrians and black iron railing but remains inaccessible to the public.
