Like many of my friends and neighbors, I am tired of the needless division and partisan posturing in Washington. As a conservative Democrat, I’m tired of the extreme ideology and failed solutions being offered by leaders of my party.

As a result, I am supporting former Gov. Angus King in his bid to become our next U.S. senator.

As both an executive and a candidate, King has a proven record of listening to the concerns of regular voters and of offering tangible solutions to pressing problems. In a divided Senate, these traits will serve Maine well.

King’s moderate and thoughtful approach to issues also will provide nuance and balance to problems that require specialized knowledge and careful analysis, not knee-jerk reactions.

I am confident that King will serve Maine well.
