AUGUSTA — Motorists should be cautious of standing water on Route 126 near the West Gardiner and Litchfield town lines, Randy Prince of the Maine Department of Transportation said today.
The water is on the road near Horseshoe Pond. The road has not been closed, although Prince was on his way to assess the situation this afternoon.
“Water has definitely not receded yet,” he said.
In Gardiner, the bridge on Maine Avenue near Harvey’s Hardware remains closed, although the Bridge Street bridge is now open. Also, a bridge on Dennis Hill Road in Litchfield/West Gardiner is closed, and Thorofare Road in Litchfield remains closed as well.
A flood warning for the Kennebec River in Augusta remains in effect until late Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service.
