AUBURN — Drew Stratton had three hits and scored three runs and Tyler Reeve pitched a complete game as No. 7 Winthrop upset No. 2 St. Dominic 8-6 in a Western Maine Class C quarterfinal Thursday.

Tyler Stockford doubled home two runs in the first inning as the Ramblers dispatched St. Dom’s starter Jim Theriault. Ben Allen and Zack Steele each added two hits for the Ramblers and, along with Stratton, accounted for four stolen bases. Ray Roy and Jay Bryant each had a pair of hits for the Saints.

Reeve weathered one bad inning, the third, in which the Saints scored five runs on two hits, four walks and an error. He finished with six walks and six strikeouts while allowing five hits.

“We’ve just been coming together as a team,” Winthrop coach Marc Fortin said. “This was a real team effort. The bottom of our order had five hits and scored three runs.”

Winthrop (9-7) advances to play No. 3 Telstar on Saturday while St. Dom’s finishes at 10-5.

No. 1 Oceanside 4, No. 8 Gardiner 0: Rachel Frye surrendered only a fourth-inning bunt single, striking out nine and walking one to lead the top-ranked Mariners to a quarterfinal victory in Rockland.

Oceanside (16-1) broke a scoreless tie with a three-run fourth inning that included a two-run homer by Molly Mellor and an RBI double by Jessie Veilleux.

Mellor and Hannah Hersom finished with two hits apiece for the Mariners.

Brittany Rollins of Gardiner (10-8) threw a five-hitter.

Western C softball

No. 7 Sacopee Valley 3, No. 2 Monmouth 1: Ashley Pingree held the Mustangs to just one hit as the Falcons earned the upset in Monmouth.

The Falcons improve to 7-10 and advance to play in the semifinals Saturday. No. 2 Monmouth ends the season 13-3.

Shelly Pellegrino added two singles for Sacopee Valley, which scored twice in the top of the sixth inning to secure the win.

Reen Kahl allowed three runs on five hits, while striking out eight and walking none for Monmouth.

No. 4 Dirigo 7, No. 5 Hall-Dale 1: Olivia Maynard had a double and a single, but the Bulldogs lost in Dixfield.

The Cougars improve to 11-6 and advance to play No. 1 Madison in the regional semifinals Saturday. No. 5 Hall-Dale ends the season 8-9.

Carylanne Wolfington added three singles for Hall-Dale.

Tasha DeRoche had a double and a single while Alyssa Wade had two singles for Dirigo. Wade earned the win, allowing one run on seven hits, while striking out three and walking one.

Western B baseball

No. 4 Yarmouth 9, No. 5 Maranacook 2: Eamon Costello and Caleb Uhl scored on defensive miscues in the first inning, and Costello singled home Mike Smith in the second as the Clippers scored three times on their way to a quarterfinal win in Yarmouth.

Chester Jacobs allowed two hits over seven innings, including an RBI single by Nick Lacasse, and one earned run.

Costello finished with four hits and two runs scored. Max Grimm added three of Yarmouth’s 15 hits, while Calvin Cooper had two hits and two RBIs, and Tom Sullivan two hits. Bryce Snyder scored three times for Yarmouth.
