June 18 was a new holiday in Waterville, with thanks to the City Council for banning fireworks within city limits.

Night after night citizens who work for a living and need to get up in the morning have their sleep interrupted by the constant barrage of noise.

Let the police do their regular duty without all the calls concerning fireworks. Leave the fireworks to Fourth of July celebrations. Citizens who waste their money on fireworks should donate what they spend to the Winslow Fourth of July Committee. It is a good cause.
