MONMOUTH — A portion of Cressey Road is cut off today as part of an investigation into an alleged methamphetamine lab.

Three men were arrested Wednesday night on drug trafficking charges in connection to that operation, according to authorities.

Investigators with the Maine Drug Enforcement are at the scene now at 307 Cressy Road along with Monmouth Police and Fire and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. The property includes a house trailer and outbuildings.

“Cressey Road is blocked a short distance from the scene and people are asked to stay back and give the team room to work,” said Darrell Crandall, the agency’s division commander, in a press statement.

“It is expected the search will take several hours and may be delayed by the extreme weather conditions. The heat will require the team members working in protective chemical gear to take frequent breaks, for health and safety reasons.”

MDEA officials did not release the names of those arrested, but jail records show those charged with unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs are Robert R. Dumont Jr., 27, and James W. Renaud, 33, both of Monmouth, and Brandon A. Proctor, 42 of Oxford.

The three men arrested Wednesday were taken to Kennebec County jail and are expected to make initial court appearances Friday.

The agency said this is the 10th methamphetamine lab investigated this year.
