Dan Kananowitz, of Libson Falls, collects quarts of strawberries Wednesday he sold from the hood of his car in Hallowell. Kananowitz said he started harvesting and selling the fruit when he got laid off several years ago but continues to offer what he picks on days off now.  Roadside strawberry vending is a “good way to get in shape and earn extra money,” he said.
