SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. — The Vermont police searching for a suspect who robbed a South Burlington bank believe he fled the scene of the robbery on a bicycle.

Just before 5 p.m. Thursday, a suspect went into the Peoples United Bank on Dorset Street and showed a handgun before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.

South Burlington Police Chief Trevor Whipple says the suspect is described as a slender black male between 6-feet and 6-feet-2 inches tall with a “sleeve type” tattoo on his right arm.

Video surveillance at the bank showed the suspect arriving on a bicycle. Police now believe he fled on a bicycle.

It was the third time since November that the bank has been targeted.
