SAME PRICE: Wendy Elvin carries a basket of sweet corn that she harvested Tuesday with her father, Elmer, in a field at the family’s Readfield farm.  Farm stands across Kennebec County are selling the first crop of sweet corn while plots in the Midwest continue to wither due to a drought.  The harvest “looks good this year,” the elder Elvin said, which will keep the price of ear the same as last year, at fifty cents.
