I hate it when people who want my vote don’t answer my questions.
A few days ago, I was at a training session where a local police officer said that the Kennebec County district attorney is the only one in Maine who routinely chooses not to prosecute OUIs with blood alcohol levels below 0.10.
I emailed Darrick Banda and Meaghan Maloney and asked them their thoughts on this.
Maloney immediately replied and said that she would prosecute all OUIs, even below a blood alcohol level of 0.08, if the evidence of impairment was strong enough.
Banda never replied.
The one thing that is important to me in my public officials is responsiveness.
I believe Maloney has earned my vote.
