A few days ago, the TV showed a younger Mitt Romney explaining his work as a venture capitalist in the Bain Capital company.
He said, “We buy companies, restructure them, and then ‘harvest’ them.”
The use of the word “harvest” in this context came as a real jolt to the elderly farmer for whom the word is highly respectable.
Of course, for Mitt Romney, such harvest resulted in a truly bountiful financial gain. For the thousands of workers who were left unemployed after their jobs had been shipped overseas, the “harvest” was a bitter one indeed, destructive of security for them and their families.
It will be a sad day for America if we elect a president who has this type of business experience.
