AUGUSTA — A state panel that’s on a mission to close Maine’s so-called skills gap will hold a listening session and tour in Belfast.

Monday’s activities by the Committee on Maine’s Workforce and Economic Future will focus on the state’s economic hubs, including Main Streets and downtowns.

A tour of Belfast’s Front Street Shipyard is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., and that will be followed by a panel discussion and public hearing.

The bipartisan committee is similar to a special panel Republicans assembled after they won legislative majorities two years ago, which focused on cutting red tape in government regulations.
