OKLAHOMA CITY — The green lawn around Linda Blackwood’s Adair County house turned white after an unusual late-season snowfall swept across northeastern Oklahoma.
The National Weather Service in Tulsa says more than an inch of snow fell in parts of northeastern Oklahoma during the early-morning hours Friday. The unusual May snowfall moved to the east into Arkansas on Friday morning, but only after setting a record for the latest snow on record. The previous record for the latest snowfall in Tulsa was April 18.
Temperatures dipped into the 20s and 30s overnight as the storm moved across the state. Meteorologist Amy Jankowski says the storm I expected to curl back into northeastern Oklahoma Friday night and there is a slight chance of more snow in the area. Temperatures are expected to warm Friday afternoon.
