BREWER — State records were set Saturday in the Class A state track and field championships at Brewer.

In the girls’ 400-meter run, Teal Jackson of Brewer won in a state- record time of 57.00.

Deering senior Jared Bell set a state record in the discus, setting a mark of 176 feet, 7 inches. Earlier in the day Bell, who will compete for Princeton University next year, won the shot put with a throw of 57-2.25.  He was 3 feet shy of a 35-year old state record in the event.

In the boys’ 400-meter run, Brunswick senior Alex Nichols tied a state record 48.58 seconds to win.
