The City of Augusta is conducting a school budget validation and referendum election Tuesday from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
There are two questions on the ballot. Question 1 is on the City of Augusta School budget that was adopted at the latest City Council budget meeting. The total school budget placed before voters is $27,414,811.
Question 2 asks if the voter wishes to require the City of Augusta to continue to conduct a referendum to validate its annual school budget for the next three years. A yes vote would leave things as they are. If voters chose no, the budget validation referendum will be discontinued for at least three years and would provide instead that the final annual school budget would be adopted at a meeting of the City Council.
Polling places are as follows: Ward 1, Augusta Armory , 179 Western Ave.; Ward 2, City Center, 16 Cony St; Ward 3, Civic Center, 76 Community Drive; Ward 4- Cony High School, 60 Pierce Drive.
