BINGHAM — A $3.33 million budget for the 2014-2015 school year goes to voters in School Administrative District 13 Thursday.
The proposed budget would increase spending by about 3 percent, but several steps were taken to keep the budget from increasing by even more.
Administrators’ pay will be frozen, and the district will reduce hours for a guidance counselor and social worker and cut expenditures for maintenance equipment.
The $3,335,007 budget represents an increase of $104,939 from the current budget of $3,230,060, according to Virginia Rebar, superintendent for the district.
“I think it’s a very responsible budget, relative to all of the increased costs we have and loss of state funding,” Rebar said.
The district is looking at a $97,000 loss in state funding, she said.
New expenditures include a new bus, laptop computers for elementary school students, staff training, new reading materials for elementary students and uniforms and equipment for sports teams.
The budget was given preliminary approval at a validation meeting on May 29.
Polls will be open for the budget referendum from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Quimby Middle School and the Moscow Town Office.
