WINSLOW — A Turner man was arrested on aggravated assault after an alleged attack on a woman at a Benton Avenue residence Wednesday evening, police said.
Winslow police officers responded to a domestic violence call at 6:15 p.m. after a woman complained that a man had placed his hands on her neck, according to Winslow Police Chief Shawn O’Leary.
When police arrived, they found Kevin Scott O’Connor, 46, of Hickson Road in Turner, as well as a woman.
“There was no ongoing assault when officers arrived, but tempers were still heated,” O’Leary said.
O’Leary said the officers found probable cause to arrest O’Connor. He was charged with aggravated assault, a class B felony, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
The woman did not require hospital treatment, O’Leary said.
O’Connor was being held without bail at Kennebec County jail Thursday morning. He is due in Kennebec Superior Court on July 29.
