AUGUSTA — A woman suffered serious injury Sunday when she crashed her motorcycle on Western Avenue.
Augusta police declined to identify the woman, who was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to a hospital. Augusta Fire Chief Roger Audette said the woman suffered critical injuries. He was unsure to which hospital she was flown.
The crash occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. Sunday on Western Avenue near Paul Blouin Suzuki, where there is ongoing road construction. Audette said the woman’s motorcycle apparently hit a pothole and threw her to the ground.
The woman was taken by Augusta Rescue to the Turnpike Mall to meet the helicopter.
The woman was wearing a helmet, Audette said.
The section of Western Avenue was closed for about 30 minutes.
