Adam Arthur Fortier-Brown of Randolph, a senior at Gardiner Area High School, has been chosen to attend the American Legion Boys Nation from Friday through July 25 at Marymount University, Arlington, Va., with daily trips to Washington, D.C.

Fortier-Brown is one of two Maine delegates selected based on leadership skills, academic record and activity at American Legion Boys State. The week-long program will introduce Fortier-Brown to the structure and function of the federal government while combining lectures and forums with visits to federal agencies, institutions, memorials and historical spots in and around Washington, according to a news release.

At American Legion Boys State, Fortier-Brown served as town commissioner, county commissioner, nationalist vice party chair, minority leader, chairman of the Transportation, Utilities and Energy Committee, and the House of Representatives.

At high school, he participates in golf, National Honor Society, Student Council, band, jazz band, drama, serves as the student director of middle school drama, and volunteers at an alzheimer’s center. He has been honored with the College of the Atlantic Book Award, is a two-time Geography Bee winner and has been named to the high honor roll.

He plans to attend college to study international business.
