I read the Aug. 14 article, “Crossing guards eliminated,” and believe Augusta should have at least have one guard for children who have to cross Western Avenue.

Four lanes of traffic is too dangerous for any child to cross alone. Even adults have a hard time crossing Western Avenue; it’s dangerous.

Augusta shouldn’t wait for a child to get hit before posting a crossing guard.
