NEWCASTLE — The Gardiner field hockey team relied on a balanced scoring attack to remain unbeaten with a 7-0 win over Lincoln Academy Thursday.
Emily Malinowski, Abby Dyer, Sarah Morgan, Grace Kelley, Victoria Littlefield, Kalee Michaud and Mackenzie Edwards each scored goals for Gardiner (5-0-1), while Lilly Chepke chipped in with two assists.
CAMDEN HILLS 1, MARANACOOK 0: Karrah York scored with 2:47 left in the first half as the Windjammers defeated the Black Bears in Readfield.
Molly Davee assisted on the goal. Desi Dodd made one save for Camden (2-3-1).
Lindsy Hilton had 10 saves for Maranacook (1-5).
GIRLS SOCCER
MONMOUTH 5, DIRIGO 0: Sidney Wilson notched a hat trick to lead Monmouth to an Mountain Valley Conference win in Monmouth on Thursday.
Haley Fletcher scored the other two goals for the Mustangs (5-0). Mikayla Cameron stopped six shots in net for Monmouth, which outshot Dirigo (2-3), 37-7.
OAK HILL 6, WINTHROP 0: Bree Ivy and Halee Lair each poured in a pair of goals to lead the Raiders to their first win of the season in Winthrop.
Jamie Prue and Sydney Drew each scored goals for Oak Hill (1-4-0), while Anna Dodge picked up the shutout in net.
Winthrop falls to 0-5-0 with the loss.
WOMEN’S FIELD HOCKEY
THOMAS 6, DANIEL WEBSTER 0: Brittany Premo and Taylor Bergeron each scored a pair of goals to lead the Terriers to the non-conference win at Bernatchez Field.
Premo gave Thomas the lead just 10 minutes into the contest and two minutes later Crystal Cunningham scored to get the rout rolling.
Gabby Martell also had a goal for Thomas, while Brittany Fox and Jessica Russell made one save each to pick up the shutout.
