READFIELD — Alex Mace rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries, and also added three catches for 90 yards to help lead the Oak Hill football team past Maranacook 21-0 in a Western Campbell Conference Class D game Friday night at Ricky Gibson Field of Dreams.
Jonah Martin got Oak Hill (2-1) on the board with 6:13 left in the opening quarter by hauling in a 25-yard pass from Dalton Therrien, and three minutes later Mace scored the first of his two touchdowns on a 3-yard rush.
Mace — who tacked on his second score with 2:21 remaining in the contest — saw more snaps than usual in the backfield for the Raiders, as senior captain Kyle Flaherty sat out the game with a leg injury.
“It was running back by committee,” Oak Hill coach Stacen Doucette said. “We’re just all going to pitch in and work as a group.”
Steven Gilbert (11 carries, 25 yards), Levi Buteau (five carries, 35 yards) and Therrien (six carries, 17 yards) all pitched in on that committee. Garrett Gile and Samson Lacroix helped lead the charge for the Oak Hill defense.
Maranacook fell to 0-3 with the loss.
DIRIGO 25, WINTHROP/MONMOUTH 6: Two Riley Robinson to Gavin Arsenault touchdown passes in the first quarter were all Dirigo would need to defeat Winthrop/Monmouth in a Campbell Conference Class D game at Harlow Field in Dixfield.
Robinson connected with Arsenault on touchdowns of 19 and 29 yards to take a 13-0 lead. The Cougars (3-0) added six more before the end of the quarter after Joe Casey’s 56-yard run set up Tyler Frost’s 1-yard touchdown plunge.
In the third quarter, Dirigo blocked a Winthrop/Monmouth punt and Vincent Hebert recovered it in the end zone to make it 25-0. The Ramblers (0-3), who turned the ball over six times on the night, got on the board in the fourth quarter on a 16-yard touchdown pass from Matt Ingram to Mario Meucci.
