SALEM — The Mt. Abram boys soccer team got a strong test from winless Telstar, but Hunter York’s early goal held up to give the Roadrunners a 1-0 win Wednesday.
York scored just 1:47 into the game. Bryson Walker got the assist after crossing the ball to York from the corner. Tristen Dyer made five saves for the shutout, including one on a penalty kick, as Mt. Abram improved to 7-1.
Kellen True had 13 saves for Telstar (0-7-1).
BUCKFIELD 4, VALLEY 0: Brian Casey scored two goals to lead the Bucks over the Cavaliers in Bingham.
Matt Beaucage and Jon Randolph added goals for Buckfield (7-2).
Dillon Beane had 18 saves for Valley (1-8).
GIRLS SOCCER
BUCKFIELD 7, VALLEY 1: Kennedy Savoy scored the lone goal for the Cavaliers in a loss to the Bucks in Bingham.
Olivia Dooley had five saves for Valley (0-9).
Brianna Damon had four goals for Buckfield (5-2-1).
CARRABEC 1, DIRIGO 0: Paige Chadbourne scored a goal with 58 seconds remaining to lead the Cobras to a win over the Cougars in Dixfield on Tuesday.
Chadbourne’s goal was assisted by Bailey Atwood. Kelsey Creamer had five saves for Carrabec (4-5).
Dirigo fell to 4-5.
MEN’S SOCCER
USM 3, UMF 1: The University of Southern Maine scored three second-half goals to down the Beavers in Farmington.
Will Pearsall, Caleb Leino and Tyler Rand each scored goals for the Huskies (2-7-2), while Maranacook grad Jonathan Varney notched an assist,
Jordan Luks recorded the UMF (1-7-1) goal off a penalty kick in the 87th minutes.
BOWDOIN 4, HUSSON 0: Ben Cintrin tallied one goal and two assists to pace the Polar Bears (4-3-0) past the Eagles (6-4-0) in Brunswick.
Brian Potter, of Waterville, combined with Steven Paquette to make 12 saves in net for Husson.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
REGIS 1, THOMAS 0: Joana Rosa’s unassisted goal at the 33:58 mark proved to be the difference as the Terriers dropped a non-league contest in Waterville.
Paige Leary stopped three shots for Thomas (4-7-0,1-2 North Atlantic Conference), while Rachel Gagnon made eight saves to pick up the shutout for Regis (3-4-1,0-1 New England Collegiate Conference).
