WINTHROP – Maranacook quarterback Isaiah Weston scored on a 16-yard touchdown run to give the Black Bears (1-3) their first win of the season, a 22-18 decision over Boothbay in Campbell Conference Western D football action.

On the game-winning drive the Black Bears also got a number of key catches from Levi Emery.

“It’s a young group that really needed a win,” Maranacook coach Joe Emery said. “We ran double wing the whole game and that’s how we did it.”

“…They’re really excited. Our passing game worked pretty well the whole time. Levi caught three or four balls that we desperately needed to have to keep that last drive going.”

Fullback Kyle Morand led the Black Bears with two touchdowns and 2-point conversion run.

BREWER 14, GARDINER 8: Brewer grabbed a 14-0 lead in the second half and then held of the Tigers in the second half.

Tyler Caron rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries to lead the Tigers (2-3).

Brad Weston rushed for 75 yards on 12 carries for the Tigers (2-3) as well. Wyatt Blair rushed for 48 yards on seven carries as well

Eli Kropp completed 3 of 11 passes for 44 yards.

Andrew Doody-Veilleux had two tackles and blocked three kicks while Jake Truman had eight tackles, including for a loss.

BOYS SOCCER

HALL-DALE 8, DIRIGO 1 – Nat Crocker and Nick Guiou each scored three goals as the Bulldogs beat the Cougars 8-1 in a Mountain Valley Conference game in Farmingdale.

Ryan Fitzgerald and Tyler Dubois added goals for Hall-Dale (8-1).

Jay Guavin had 24 saves for Dirigo (2-7).

GIRLS SOCCER

WINSLOW 3, MARANACOOK 0: Paige Smith, Callie Lavarnway and Meg Nadeau each scored a goal to lead the Black Raiders to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B win in Readfield.

Hillary Libby made 20 saves for Winslow (5-5-0).

Liz D’Angelo stopped 10 shots for Maranacook (6-2-1).

LISBON 2, HALL-DALE 0: Kate Philbrick and Molly Nicholson each scored goals to lead the Greyhounds past the Bulldogs in Farmingdale.

Stevie Charest had four saves for Lisbon (9-1).

Molly French had 33 saves for Hall-Dale.
