I am writing to support Alice Elliott, a Democrat from Richmond, to represent District 55 (Bowdoin, Bowdoinham and Richmond) in the Maine House.
It has been my honor to represent these towns for eight years, most recently as majority leader. Though term-limited, I can step down with optimism thanks to Alice, an excellent person who will make an outstanding legislator.
Alice grew up in Paris and spent her childhood working in her family’s hardware store. She knows firsthand the importance and struggles of small businesses.
Alice works at Colby College, where she coordinates service projects between the students and local communities. Here she sees firsthand the difficulties facing working Mainers, and the importance of helping them succeed. And she sees creative, local solutions that can be built upon to benefit us all.
I look forward to casting my vote for Alice Elliott on Nov. 4.
