My husband deployed twice with the Maine Army National Guard’s 133rd Engineering Battalion. Knowing how important it is that the needs of our veterans and military families be heard, I am writing to express my strong support for Democrat Monica Castellanos of Augusta (District 86) as representative for Augusta in the state Legislature.
Having been senior adviser for Congressman Mike Michaud, Monica is well-versed in veterans affairs, health care and challenges of them and their families. During the Afghanistan deployment, Monica was a constant source of support and comfort, calling regularly and helping whenever the need arose. She stood beside us during the 133rd’s deployment send-offs and cheered alongside us welcoming them home.
She has a deep love for her state and country and strong respect for our service men and women. I cannot think of a more responsible and effective voice for veterans and military families than Castellanos.
