AUGUSTA — Traffic was snarled for several hours Wednesday when a truck hit a utility pole on South Belfast Avenue.

Augusta Police Lt. Christopher Read said nobody was hurt in the crash, but roads leading to the area were blocked because of the downed power lines.

“When you shut down that road, it causes major havoc,” Read said.

Information about the driver, the truck and the cause of the crash was not available Wednesday.

The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. near the intersection of Church Hill Road and Route 105, South Belfast Avenue.

A trooper from Maine State Police commercial vehicle division helped investigate the crash.
