A New Sharon couple were arrested after they allegedly stole $6,000 from an Augusta area septic service business.
Daniel Villacci, 28, and Tabatha Schoubroek, 30, are charged with theft and violating conditions of release for the incident, which was reported to involve misuse of a company credit card, Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols said.
Nichols said Deputy Matthew Brann investigated a complaint Thursday from Louise Dube, of Dube Environmental, who said that her employee, Villacci, had run up more than $6,000 in charges to the card.
Nichols said Brann, Lt. David St. Laurent and Detective Ken Charles determined Villacci and Schoubroek had made multiple fraudulent charges to the card.
Villacci was arrested on the class E charge of violating a condition of release and class D theft, and Schoubroek was charged with class E violating a condition of release and class C theft.
The two had previously been arrested on class C drug charges in April after their child came home from school and claimed to have found them unconscious and possibly dead.
The child called a relative who then dialed 911. Investigators said Villacci and Schoubroek had overdosed on heroin and the child may have saved their lives by calling for help..
Schoubroek, who was represented by attorney Linda Sparks, pleaded guilty in August and was allowed a deferred disposition for the crime.
As part of the arrangement, Schoubroek pleaded guilty to the charge and if she had followed the conditions set by the court, including no new criminal conduct, then she would have been able to withdraw her plea and either plead to a misdemeanor of have the charge dropped as of Aug. 28.
The drug charge is still pending against Villacci.
