The school superintendent of Unity-based Regional School Unit 3 has been named the sole finalist to become superintendent of schools in Gorham.

The Gorham School Committee has named Heather Perry, who has been superintendent of RSU 3 since June 2010, as the only finalist for the Gorham post.

Gorham is seeking a superintendent to replace Ted Sharp, who is retiring at the end of the school year after 12 years as Gorham superintendent.

Perry’s selection is still subject to reference checks, site visits and a public forum to be held on Jan. 21 at 6 p.m. in the Gorham Middle School auditorium, according to a press release Tuesday from the school district.

Prior to her appointment to head the schools in RSU 3, she was superintendent in MSAD 12, which serves Jackman and a section of unorganized territory.

The RSU 3 district comprises five schools and about 2,650 students. Member communities include Brooks, Freedom, Jackson, Liberty, Monroe, Montville, Thorndike, Troy and Waldo in addition to Unity.
