WINSLOW — Winslow High School is participating in WGME’s School Spirit Challenge through February. The school will host a food drive to benefit the Good Shepherd Food Bank organized by the students in Jobs for Maine’s Graduates and Leadership 53.
Winslow will collect food during multiple athletic events, according to the release. Schoolwide collection days are planned for Feb. 13 and 27.
Chad Bell, principal at WHS, will let a student shave his head if the community collects 50,000 pounds of food, according to the release.

The culmination of the food drive will be celebrated with a community pep rally set for 6 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Winslow High School’s Mansfield Gymnasium. The rally will be telecast on CBS 13 (WGME).
To date, WGME School Spirit Challenge has collected more than 714,160 pounds of food to help Maine families, according to the release. The goal is to reach 1 million pounds by the end of this season.
