FARMINGTON —  Music continues to breathe life into Nick Stanley’s days.

Stanley, 36, has been confined to bed for the last three years because of a condition called adult onset spinal muscular atrophy.

He’s unable to walk, to eat or to breathe on his own. He’s been told his condition can only get worse.

But Stanley continues to see and hear a ton of live music. Since the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram wrote about him in March of 2014,  Stanley has had in-home performances from several Maine or New England-based musicians, including Spose, Adam Ezra, The 220s and The Troubles, among others.

Stanley said in a recent Facebook message that he’s excited about the new van he recently got. He said it’s currently being made “road ready” so friends can take him, in his bed, to see concerts.

One of the last concerts he went to was by the rapper Matisyahu at Portland’s State Theatre in December, where he got to meet the performer.
