BINGHAM — An Anson man was arrested late Saturday night and charged with assault after allegedly pushing an officer while stopped at a police roadblock on Main Street.
Dennis Nile, 69, of Anson, faces charges of misdemeanor assault, operating under the influence and operating after suspension after the incident, which occurred about 10:50 p.m., according to Cpl. Eugene Cole of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Cole, Deputies Ron Blodgett and Toby Blodgett and Maine State Trooper Christopher Carr were staffing an OUI detail in Bingham when they encountered Nile.
Neither of the deputies were available on Sunday morning, and Cole said he did not have full details of the incident.
Cole said officers found that Nile was driving after his license had been suspended. After a field sobriety test, officers determined that Nile was operating under the influence, Cole said.
Nile was out of the vehicle when he allegedly pushed Deputy Ron Blodgett, Cole reported, but he was unsure if Blodgett fell on the ground or against a vehicle as a result.
Officers arrested Nile and he was booked at the Somerset County Jail Saturday evening. Cole said the Class D assault charge is a misdemeanor offense.
