Hooray Gov. Paul LePage for going after welfare cheats. I’m all for it. Go after all those companies whose employees depend on welfare to supplement their paychecks. Walmart, Sears, McDonalds, and Home Depot are a few that come to mind.

Since the governor doesn’t want to raise the minimum wage, then I suggest cross-referencing the employment data from these deadbeat millionaires with those on the welfare rolls — food stamps, fuel assistance, Medicaid, etc. It should then be a simple matter of addition to create a bill for these corporations to pay. By making these national and international corporations pay the true cost of the jobs they bring to Maine, we can reduce the rolls of those on welfare, thereby saving the taxpayer money.

If you say this will discourage companies from moving to Maine, then I ask you, Do we really want companies here who abuse their employees with low wages and then fleece the taxpayer by putting those workers on welfare?

We should be encouraging every backyard inventor, investing in the micro-entrepreneur, this will bring the young blood the state needs. Remember Ford started in a garage, as did Microsoft — one company like those in the state of Maine would pay for the investment in all the others. It is really a numbers game if the odds are 1 in 100,000, then by creating 100,000 businesses we will get a Cianbro (employee-owned by the way) or perhaps a Mainesoft.

So hooray for the governor. You go get those corporations who are truly the biggest welfare cheats and save taxpayers billions.
